Instructions for Accommodating Individuals who use Video Relay Services (VRS)
General Instructions: The following directions assume that you have a video telephone and routinely use VRS to place telephone calls. Please position the display of your video telephone immediately adjacent to your PC display. In this manner you will be able to see what is being displayed during your conference session (PowerPoint slides, text messages, etc.). Have your VRS sign language interpreter. call the following phone number: (xxx) xxx-xxxx The sign language interpreter will be placed on speakerphone. They will sign what they hear via the phone. The audio they will be listening to is the moderator speaking and the audio in the conference room. When the VRS user has a comment or question, they simply type a question mark (?) into the text chat window and wait until they are called upon to make their comment or ask their question. The participant then signs their question to the sign language interpreter and the interpreter repeats what is being signed using their voice. During this time the moderatror holds their microphone near the speakerphone and keys their microphone. Partial listing of VRS providers:
