Three increasingly larger circles, one inside of the other, like a bulls-eye. The outer circle encompasses the words Medicine, Education, Psychology, Computer Science, Engineering and Biology. The next smallest circle encompasses the words Pedagogy, Human-Machine Interaction and Human Performance. The smallest, center, circle surrounds the phrase "Learning with a Disability."

Instructions for Connecting to WSU's Starting Wright Online Conference Room

 

*** Please print a copy of this instruction sheet.  Doing this will make it easier to follow. ***

 

Important Note: Please run through the following instructions at least 24 hours prior to the session.  If you run into problems, send an e-mail to Clark at clark.shingledecker@wright.edu or Meg at startingwright@gmail.com. If you wait until the last minute to test your PC's access to the session, and run into a problem, we will not be able to assist you and you will not be able to participate in the session.

 

There are two options for connecting to the session:

 

Option 1: Direct connect which requires a plug-in download and installation

  1. Make sure that your PC and Internet connection meet the following minimum requirements:

  • 800 MHz Processor;

  • Windows XP/Vista Operating System; Note: If you are using a Mac or Linux computer please go to Option 2.

  • Sound Card;

  • Headset with built-in noise-canceling microphone; See: Purchasing a Headset.
    Note:
    The microphone is optional since you can send your comments and questions to the presenters using the text chat feature of the system.

  • 1 GB of RAM;

  • Internet Explorer V6-7;

  • High-Speed Connection to the Internet (minimum download speed: 600 kbps, minimum upload speed: 350 kbps).

  1. Test your PC's multimedia capabilities and Internet speed by clicking on the following link:
    http://www.onlineconferencingsystems.com/echo.exe. An application will download to your system. It is safe to use and virus-free. Click on "Run" twice to start the utility. All the test results should be "excellent" or "good."  

  2. Click on the following link to connect to the entry page to your session:
    http://www.onlineconferencingsystems.com/wsu

  3. Click on the link entitled, “Click this link to download and install the IDEAL Conference® Plug-In.” Note: If you experience a problem downloading and/or installing the IDEAL Conference® Plug-In, go to Option 2.

  4. When the plug-in finishes installing, click on the link entitled “click here to enter the room.”

  5. Enter your first and last name in the "User Name" field.

  6. Please leave the password field blank.

  7. Click the Log On button.

Option 2: Direct connect which does not require a plug-in download and installation

If you are using a Mac or Linux computer, or are experiencing a problem downloading and/or installing the IDEAL Conference® Plug-In:

  1. Make sure that your PC and Internet connection meet the minimum requirements listed in #1 under option 1 above.

  2. Note: This method of connecting to a session does not enable you to use your microphone. However, you will be able to submit comments and questions to the presenters using the text chat feature of the system.

  3. Click on the following link to enter the conference room using IDEAL's Web client:
    http://70.87.156.18/masteradmin/voxwebcast/default.asp?roomid=rs7ee3705581a

  4. Enter your first and last name in the User Name field.

  5. Please leave the password field blank.

  6. Click the Log On button.
